Olde Meck Genealogy Community Workshop is a Collaboration with Charlotte AAHGS (Other Genealogical Society's)
Olde Meck is very pleased to be offering another Genealogy Community Workshop in collaboration with the Afro-American Historical and Genealogical Society, (AAHGS) Charlotte Chapter. This event will take place via Zoom on Saturday, August 20th beginning at 10:00 am. It is free and open to anyone.
There will be two sessions. First, our own board member and accomplished records expert, David McCorkle, will discuss Finding and Understanding NC Court Records. This presentation will discuss the wide variety of information available in early court records and help you learn how to locate them, focusing on the specifics of North Carolina records.
For the second presentation at 11:00 am, AAHGS vice president and genealogical author, John Sadler, will discuss How to Research Your Enslaved Ancestors. This program will explain how to use surnames to narrow your search, what documents may be helpful, and how to piece it all together. There will be a question-andanswer period after each presentation.
Registration is required for this meeting at GCW Registration
. You will receive a confirmation email with details about joining the meeting. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more information. This workshop is an opportunity for our groups to reach new people in the community who might be interested in genealogy and not aware of what we can offer.
