Holiday Reminder for the Heritage Room
The Heritage Room is closed two weeks at Christmas. Closing the weeks of December 19th and 26th, reopening on January 3, 2023.

The Carolinas Genealogical Society is working to provide collections to the public and our members. We hope you will check back often to see how we grow, and if you have an interest in volunteering (you don't have to live locally) please contact our webmaster at:  Webmaster@carolinasgensociety.org
 
We are dedicated to meeting the needs of family researchers and historians through the collection and preservation of the surrounding county's public records. Our collections are housed along with the collections of the The Heritage Room located in the Historic Courthouse in downtown Monroe, N.C. 

Heritage Festival Winners - 2022

 
 At the Heritage Festival on September 17th, we gave away three prizes. The first prize was a two set vol. of the   Union County Heritage Books, both Vol. 1 and 2. Vol 1 has been out of print since it sold out after the first   publication. Vol 2 is still avilable for sell at the Heritage Room. The second prize was a copy of the Sweet Union
 book and third prize was a year digital subscription membership to CGS. 
 The winners are: Jane Beaver - 1st Prize; Jason Oshita - 2nd Prize; Judy Smith - 3rd Prize; 
Congratulations to all winners.

The Historic Courthouse renovaton of 
Phase One is complete.
The restoration included the clock tower
and replacing the slate roof.
Phase Two will begin likely in 2023.

If you're a member of our society, please check out the Union County Databases tab. We have added an index for Slave Deeds found in Deed Books Vols 1 & 2. This is a work in progress and as our volunteers build the indexes from Vols 3 - 6 they will be added. If you are not a member of our society, you are invited to join

The Heritage Room Hours

The Heritage Room located in the Old Historic Courthouse in downtown Monroe, NC is back to normal hours. Monday - Wednesday, 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.  and Thursday 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
