Dear Descendant and Special Attendees,
The Grave Marking Committee of the Mecklenburg Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, will install the DAR grave marker for Joseph Williams, Revolutionary War Soldier, on
Saturday June 8,2024
at the Williams Griffin Cemetery
Wingate, NC 9-10:30am
Please wear comfortable shoes and a hat may be desired. There is no shade in the graveyard.
We have done several clean ups and restoration projects at the cemetery. Several of the larger stones have been repaired/ and some are being repaired, and the owners have installed a new fence. The cemetery looks great.
We have recently visited several graves and graveyards in Union County and identified them as having patriots but without a DAR marker yet. We would love for you to be involved! If you would like to contribute, please visit our project site:
Each marker costs approximately $600. Once a DAR grave marker is installed, our chapter commits to the maintenance and preservation for many years to come. All donations are tax deductible and much appreciated to accomplish this part of the project, including cleaning materials.
We look forward to seeing you at this special event to honor Joseph Williams. Please pass this along to anyone interested in attending.
Best Regards,
Dawn Patterson and Amanda Ellinger
